Bill overview
The Fighting Homelessness Through Services and Housing Act creates a grant program within the Health Resources and Services Administration to support local and tribal governments in addressing homelessness. The program will provide two types of grants: implementation grants to help entities build and operate housing and services for homeless individuals and families, and planning grants to assist communities in developing comprehensive homelessness plans. Eligible entities must demonstrate the capacity to provide comprehensive services, including mental health and substance abuse treatment, and adhere to specific requirements regarding case management and trauma-informed practices. The bill also includes provisions for oversight and reporting on program outcomes.
