Bill overview
The Teleabortion Prevention Act of 2021 restricts how chemical abortions (medication abortions) can be performed. It requires a licensed healthcare provider to physically examine the patient, be present during the abortion, and schedule a follow-up appointment. There is an exception for abortions necessary to save a patient’s life. Individuals who comply with these requirements are protected, while providers who do not could face fines or imprisonment.
