Bill overview
This bill, the Dispose Unused Medications and Prescription Opioids Act, requires the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) to establish designated locations at its medical facilities for the safe disposal of unused or unwanted prescription opioid medications. These locations will be available to any individual, regardless of whether they are a patient or a law enforcement officer. The goal is to reduce the risk of medication misuse and diversion by making it easier for people to properly dispose of potentially harmful drugs.
