Bill overview
The Promoting Access to Broadband Act of 2021 directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to create a grant program for states. This program aims to inform low-income individuals, Medicaid recipients, and SNAP participants about the Lifeline program, which provides discounted communications services. States will apply for funding to reach eligible-but-not-enrolled individuals and provide them with information on how to apply for Lifeline benefits. The FCC will evaluate the program's effectiveness after three years.
