Bill overview
This bill directs the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) to create and manage a National Supply Chain Database. The goal is to help the federal government and businesses identify and understand the capabilities of U.S. manufacturers, ultimately aiming to reduce disruptions to the supply chain for essential goods like defense supplies, food, and medical equipment. The database will be built through the Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership program and will be designed to provide a national view of manufacturing capacity. It also includes provisions to protect the database’s confidentiality.
