Bill overview
This bill, titled the Survivors’ Access to Supportive Care Act (SASCA), aims to improve access to and the quality of sexual assault examinations and related services. It does this by establishing training programs for healthcare providers, providing grants to states for assessing provider availability, and creating a task force to enhance medical forensic evidence collection. The bill also requires institutions of higher education to inform survivors about examination availability and mandates reporting from hospitals and HHS to identify and address access and quality issues. Ultimately, the goal is to align public and private efforts to provide better care for survivors of sexual assault.
