Bill overview
This bill aims to help rural forest landowners access new markets for their forests by establishing the Rural Forest Market Investment Program. The USDA will guarantee investments in projects that promote sustainable forestry practices, such as carbon credits, and help landowners sell these products. The program will prioritize minimizing disruptions to existing forest product markets and will be overseen by the Secretary of Agriculture. The program’s authority expires on September 30, 2023.
