Bill overview
The Spectrum Innovation Act of 2022 aims to make more of the 3.1-3.45 GHz radio frequency band available for commercial use. It directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to auction off at least 200 MHz of this spectrum, while also allowing for shared use between the federal government and private entities. The bill establishes a process for the Department of Commerce to allocate funding and for the President to modify existing federal spectrum assignments to prioritize non-federal use, all within a seven-year timeframe.
