Bill overview
This bill aims to ensure that veterans who died from COVID-19 and had service-connected disabilities receive the full benefits they are entitled to. Currently, the Department of Veterans Affairs may not automatically recognize a service-connected disability as the cause of death when COVID-19 is listed as the primary cause. This legislation requires the VA to obtain a medical opinion to determine if a veteran’s disability played a role in their death, ensuring accurate benefit payments to surviving families.
