Bill overview
This bill aims to speed up the process for exporting smaller amounts of natural gas – up to 51.75 billion cubic feet per year – through amendments to the Natural Gas Act. It proposes that applications for this type of export are automatically considered to be in the public interest and should be approved quickly without significant changes. However, the bill excludes exports to countries subject to U.S. sanctions from this expedited approval process. The goal is to encourage the development of smaller-scale LNG export facilities.
