Bill overview
The Medicaid Reentry Act of 2021 aims to allow states to provide Medicaid coverage to incarcerated individuals for 30 days before their release from prison or jail. This bill requires the Medicaid and CHIP Payment and Access Commission to study the impact of this change and provide recommendations for improving healthcare access and transitions for formerly incarcerated individuals back into the community. The goal is to ensure these individuals have access to necessary medical and behavioral health services.
