Bill overview
This bill establishes an interagency One Health Program to improve preparedness and response to zoonotic diseases – illnesses that spread from animals to humans. It directs the Departments of the Interior, Health and Human Services, and Agriculture, along with other federal agencies, to develop a national framework for coordinated efforts across multiple sectors. The framework will establish goals, identify activities, and recommend legislative action to address the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health, and will be evaluated by the Government Accountability Office.
