Bill overview
This bill, the Supporting Expanded Review for Veterans In Combat Environments Act of 2021 (SERVICE Act), expands access to mammography screenings for veterans. It allows veterans who served in specific locations and time periods associated with toxic exposure, such as Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Southwest Asia theater of operations, to receive these screenings. The bill also requires the Department of Veterans Affairs to regularly report on breast cancer rates among veterans deployed to these areas compared to the general population and civilian counterparts.
