Bill overview
This bill requires the Treasury Department to investigate whether specific Chinese technology companies are responsible for human rights abuses against Uyghurs and other Muslim ethnic groups in the Xinjiang region. If these companies are found to be involved in or complicit in such abuses, the Secretary of the Treasury will recommend sanctions under existing laws like the Global Magnitsky Human Rights Accountability Act. The results of this investigation and the rationale behind any sanctions will be reported to Congress.
