Bill overview
This bill, the Federal Insurance Office Elimination Act, proposes to eliminate the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) within the Department of the Treasury. It also removes the FIO director’s role as a nonvoting member of the Financial Stability Oversight Council. The bill makes changes to the Dodd-Frank and Economic Growth Acts to reflect this elimination and consolidate authority within the Treasury Department and the Federal Reserve.
