Bill overview
The Gym Mitigation and Survival Act of 2021 (GYMS Act) creates a grant program administered by the Small Business Administration to provide financial assistance to eligible fitness facilities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. These facilities, which don't offer golf, hunting, sailing, or riding, can receive either an initial grant or a supplemental grant if their revenues have decreased due to the pandemic. Grants can be used for payroll, rent, utilities, and other essential business expenses, with a priority given to facilities serving marginalized communities.
