Bill overview
The RAISE Act of 2022 proposes a refundable tax credit for eligible educators, including elementary and secondary teachers and early childhood educators, to help support their wages. The credit amount increases based on the student poverty ratio of the school where the educator works. Additionally, the bill expands an existing tax deduction for teacher expenses and increases it, and it provides additional funding to local educational agencies to help them maintain or increase teacher salaries. It also aims to ensure that teacher pay increases don't negatively impact existing teacher compensation programs.
