Bill overview
This bill authorizes the U.S. Forest Service and the Bureau of Land Management to conduct landscape-scale forest restoration projects. It establishes a process where local communities and stakeholders collaborate on project proposals, and a funding partner provides initial financial support for analysis. The Secretary of Agriculture or Interior will then hire a contractor to conduct the necessary environmental reviews and, if approved, enter into a contract to carry out the restoration work, with the initial funding potentially being repaid through project revenues. The program is set to expire in 2033.
