Bill overview
This bill, the PUMP Act of 2021, temporarily suspends the federal excise tax on gasoline (excluding aviation gasoline) for a limited time. The tax holiday will begin on the date the bill is enacted and continue until either the public health emergency related to COVID-19 is lifted, or 180 days after the bill’s enactment, whichever comes first. This aims to provide a short-term relief to consumers at the pump.
