Bill overview
This bill requires the FBI to track and report on accidental firearm transfers that occur when a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) doesn't receive a response within three business days. The FBI will then report on the number of these transfers and the steps taken after it’s discovered the recipient is ineligible to own a firearm. This aims to provide Congress with data to understand how often these errors occur and how the system responds.
