Bill overview
This bill, known as the GRAM Act, aims to protect the Second Amendment rights of adults who use marijuana legally. It amends federal law to exempt individuals who use marijuana in states or on tribal lands where it is permitted from being considered an ‘unlawful user’ of a controlled substance for the purpose of firearms regulations. Currently, federal law prohibits firearm sales to individuals classified as such, but this change would carve out an exception for those adhering to state or tribal marijuana laws. The bill seeks to align federal regulations with state and tribal marijuana policies.
