Bill overview
This bill changes the rules for National Guard members to qualify for Post-9/11 educational benefits. Currently, full-time National Guard duty had to be in response to a national emergency. This bill removes that requirement, allowing more National Guard members who perform full-time duty at the direction of the President or Secretary of Defense to be eligible for the GI Bill. It also clarifies that training periods do not count as full-time service for eligibility purposes.
