Bill overview
The Highway Restoration Act of 2021 aims to reduce funding to the Mass Transit Account, which is a part of the Highway Trust Fund. Starting in fiscal year 2026, no further funds will be transferred to this account. The bill gradually decreases the percentage of funds transferred to the account over the years 2022 through 2025, ultimately phasing it out entirely. This change is intended to redirect resources towards highway projects.
