Bill overview
This bill, the Helping Every American Link To Healthcare Act of 2021, aims to maintain access to telehealth services after the COVID-19 public health emergency ends. It directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to revise HIPAA regulations to allow healthcare providers to continue using certain communication products – even if they don’t fully comply with privacy standards – for telehealth services for seven years following the emergency. HHS can extend this period if a review of telehealth services indicates it’s necessary.
