Bill overview
The Transportation Equity Act aims to improve transportation planning and access by establishing a new advisory committee within the Department of Transportation. This committee, called the Transportation Equity Committee, will provide independent advice and recommendations to the Secretary of Transportation on issues related to transportation equity, including economic development and community engagement. The act also designates a full-time federal employee as the coordinator for the committee to ensure administrative support and facilitate its work.
