Bill overview
The Responsibility and Integrity in Security Clearance Act (RISC Act) aims to increase transparency and accountability in the granting of security clearances to relatives and financial associates of the President. Specifically, it requires the White House Chief of Staff to notify Congress if the President grants a clearance to such an individual when it contradicts an agency’s recommendation. Furthermore, any existing security clearance for these individuals must be revoked, and a new background investigation and agency review are necessary before a clearance can be re-granted.
