Bill overview
This bill, the Transparency in Government Officials Trading Act, changes the rules for government officials who must report their stock trades. It shortens the deadline for filing these reports from 30 days after receiving notification to just 24 hours after the trade occurs. The bill also requires these reports to be filed electronically and establishes a penalty – a fee equal to the value of the transaction – for officials who fail to file their reports on time.
