Bill overview
This bill changes the requirements for the REAL ID Act, which governs state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards. It allows states to decide whether to include a gender or sex designation on these documents, removing the previous requirement that it be mandatory. If a state chooses to include such a designation, it must offer a neutral option and not require additional documentation to verify it. The bill also makes a technical adjustment to the Court Security Improvement Act.
