Bill overview
The End Pensions in Congress Act (EPIC Act) aims to change retirement benefits for members of Congress. It prohibits future members from joining the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) and requires current members enrolled in FERS or the Civil Service Retirement System to choose whether to continue their participation. Importantly, it allows current members to maintain participation in the Thrift Savings Plan. The bill modifies relevant sections of the U.S. Code to implement these changes, including establishing a 90-day window for current members to opt-in to continue their retirement coverage.
