Bill overview
The Renewable Energy Certainty Act allows federal agencies to enter into long-term contracts, up to 30 years, for purchasing energy from renewable sources like solar and wind, or from facilities that produce both electricity and heat (cogeneration). To make this easier, the bill requires the government to create a standard contract template that agencies can use. It also provides technical assistance to help agencies navigate these new agreements.
