Bill overview
This bill, the Telehealth Coverage and Payment Parity Act, requires private health insurance plans to cover telehealth services in the same way they cover in-person services. Specifically, if a telehealth service is deemed medically necessary and would be covered in person, the plan must also cover it when delivered via a qualifying telecommunications system. Plans are also allowed to waive cost-sharing requirements for telehealth services used to diagnose or treat COVID-19.
