Bill overview
The VOTE Act aims to increase transparency in federal elections by requiring states and local election officials to report on the number of ballots received and tabulated shortly after polling places close. It also mandates that states ensure postal mail ballots are postmarked, signed, or otherwise indicated as delivered by the U.S. Postal Service. Finally, the bill requires the chief state election official to submit a final report to the state’s chief executive and make it publicly available online.
