Bill overview
The Less Imprecision in Species Treatment Act of 2021 (LIST Act) aims to improve the process of adding and removing species from the Endangered Species Act’s protected lists. The bill requires the Department of the Interior to remove a species if sufficient scientific or commercial data demonstrates recovery, and establishes a process for removing species mistakenly listed. It also prohibits individuals who knowingly submitted inaccurate or fraudulent petitions from re-listing species for 10 years, and expands the criteria considered during five-year reviews of listed species.
