This bill, the SUPPORT for New Workers Act, provides a weekly bonus payment of $180 to individuals who return to work after receiving unemployment benefits. The payment is available for up to nine weeks following the bill’s enactment, but before September 6, 2021, and is intended to support workers re-entering the labor force. States will administer these payments, which are fully reimbursed by the federal government, and certain conditions apply, including repayment if the individual voluntarily leaves their new job within a specified timeframe.
