Bill overview
The National Food Waste Reduction Act aims to reduce food waste in the United States by establishing a research program and a grant program. The research program will partner with five regional universities to study and share best practices for reducing food waste at various levels – national, regional, and local. The grant program will provide funding to research centers and nonprofits to support cooperative efforts in food loss and waste reduction. The legislation also directs the Department of Agriculture to collaborate with various government and non-profit organizations to disseminate information and promote food waste reduction strategies.
