Bill overview
The Excellence in Recovery Housing Act aims to improve the quality and availability of recovery housing for individuals with substance use disorders. It directs the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to develop standards and guidelines for recovery housing, award grants to states for implementation, and coordinate federal efforts. The bill also establishes an interagency working group to address challenges and gaps in the recovery housing system, and mandates a National Academy of Sciences study to assess the quality and effectiveness of existing programs and recommend improvements.
