Bill overview
This bill, the Community Disaster Resilience Zones Act of 2022, directs the President to create and maintain tools that assess the risk of natural hazards across the United States. It establishes ‘Community Disaster Resilience Zones’ – the 50 most at-risk census tracts and at least 1% of high-risk tracts in each state – and allows the President to provide financial assistance to states, tribes, and local governments working on resilience projects within these zones. The bill also mandates regular reviews and updates to the hazard risk assessment tools to incorporate new data and improve their accuracy.
