Bill overview
The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act of 2022 creates a new funding source for wildlife conservation by dedicating a portion of existing environmental violation penalties to a Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Subaccount. This subaccount will provide supplemental funding to states, territories, and the District of Columbia for managing wildlife species of greatest conservation need, supporting innovative recovery efforts, and enhancing wildlife conservation education and recreation. The bill also establishes a Tribal Wildlife Conservation and Restoration Account to support wildlife management efforts by Indian Tribes, prioritizing species recovery and addressing threats to wildlife populations.
