Bill overview
This bill, the Promoting Physical Activity for Americans Act, directs the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to regularly update and publish physical activity guidelines for the United States. Every 10 years, HHS must create a report with recommendations based on the latest scientific evidence, and update this report every 5 years to address ongoing issues and specific population groups. Federal agencies are encouraged to consider these guidelines when developing their own recommendations. The bill also clarifies that these guidelines are not intended to create binding fitness standards.
