Bill overview
The Affordable Housing Redevelopment Act reauthorizes the Neighborhood Stabilization Program, providing $1.5 billion in federal grants for fiscal year 2021. These funds will be used to help states, local governments, and nonprofits convert blighted, abandoned, or foreclosed properties into affordable housing for low-income families. The bill prioritizes acquiring and rehabilitating existing buildings and adaptive reuse of commercial properties to quickly increase the supply of affordable units, while also encouraging local land-use policies that support housing production.
