Bill overview
The Support for Community Bridges Act aims to provide dedicated federal funding for the repair and maintenance of off-system bridges – bridges located on public roads that aren't part of the National Highway System. It establishes a new program and modifies existing highway funding formulas to allocate 2.5% of federal-aid highway funds to states based on the number of poor condition off-system bridges they have. States receive funding proportionally to the number of their bridges in poor condition compared to the total number of poor condition bridges nationwide, with adjustments made to ensure equitable distribution and meet minimum funding obligations.
