Bill overview
The SAVE Act expands who can administer vaccines during a public health emergency. It allows medical, nursing, pharmacy, and other health professional students, who have received appropriate training and are supervised by a licensed healthcare professional, to participate in vaccine distribution efforts. This aims to increase the availability of vaccinators during times of crisis, such as pandemics. The bill modifies the Public Health Service Act to include these students within the definition of ‘qualified persons’ for emergency countermeasures.
