Bill overview
The Sustainable Skies Act provides a tax credit to businesses that use sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). This credit, up to $1.50 per gallon, increases to $2.50 per gallon for SAF meeting stricter emissions reduction standards. The credit is available for qualified mixtures of SAF and kerosene sold for use in U.S. aircraft, provided the fuel meets specific ASTM standards and achieves a 50% reduction in lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions compared to traditional jet fuel. To qualify, taxpayers must demonstrate compliance through certification by an approved sustainability scheme.
