Bill overview
The FEEDD Act of 2021 amends the Federal Crop Insurance Act to provide enhanced relief for farmers who experience prevented planting. Specifically, farmers can receive 100% of their prevented planting guarantee for a first crop if certain conditions are met, including planting a cover crop intended for animal feed and donating or using it themselves. The bill also establishes a harvest date for determining indemnity payments on prevented planting acres used for haying, grazing, or chopping, preventing reductions in payments for these practices.
