Bill overview
The GREEN Communications Act aims to improve the resilience and energy efficiency of America’s communications infrastructure. It establishes a grant and revolving loan program run by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to fund projects that enhance network efficiency and resiliency. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is tasked with creating a framework to promote resilient networks and report on potential risks from severe weather and climate change. Additionally, the Department of Energy will report on data center energy consumption and recommend efficiency standards.
