Bill overview
The State and Local Government Cybersecurity Act of 2021 aims to improve cybersecurity across the United States by strengthening the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) role in assisting state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, as well as private sector entities. The bill expands DHS’s authority to provide grants, training, and technical assistance related to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities. It also directs the National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center to coordinate cybersecurity efforts with various partners and establish a pilot program for network sensors.
