Bill overview
This bill, the Telehealth Extension and Evaluation Act, aims to extend and improve telehealth services under Medicare. It allows federally qualified health centers and rural clinics to serve as distant sites for telehealth, expands Medicare coverage for certain outpatient critical access hospital services and laboratory tests ordered via telehealth, and permits the prescription of controlled substances online with a telehealth evaluation. The bill also requires a study on the impact of telehealth changes during the COVID-19 emergency and provides grants to states for similar reporting on Medicaid programs.
