Bill overview
The Medicare-X Choice Act of 2021 proposes to establish a new government-administered health insurance plan, called the Medicare Exchange health plan, available to individuals not otherwise eligible for Medicare. This plan would be offered through existing health insurance exchanges and would cover primary care services without cost-sharing, meeting the same requirements as existing exchange plans. The bill also includes provisions for expanding premium tax credits, eliminating restrictions on prescription drug price negotiation for Medicare, and establishing grant programs to support community partnerships and data systems. Finally, it aims to improve access to care through telehealth and address disparities in healthcare access.
