Bill overview
Jaime’s Law aims to strengthen background checks for ammunition sales and transfers in the United States. It prohibits unlicensed individuals from transferring ammunition to others without a background check through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System. The bill also requires licensed dealers to conduct background checks on transfers between them and unlicensed individuals, with some exceptions for gifts between family members and specific circumstances. Finally, it establishes a process for licensed dealers to notify unlicensed individuals of the prohibition on ammunition transfers.
