Bill overview
This bill amends the Migratory Bird Treaty Act to clarify the legal status of authentic Alaska Native handicrafts that contain nonedible parts of migratory birds. It defines ‘Alaska Native’ and ‘authentic Alaska Native article of handicraft’ to ensure these items are exempt from certain provisions of the treaty act, as long as the bird part was not obtained through wasteful practices. The bill also makes a technical amendment to the Migratory Bird Treaty Act.
